According to Makkah Health Affairs, during 1439H., at Al Noor Specialist Hospital performed 963 breast scans, 956 ultrasound cases, 49 MRI cases, and 203 biopsy cases for the detection of malignant tumors.

“On the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and under the theme «Don’t Become the Eighth! », the scanning department of the hospital provided its services to citizens and visitors coming to Makkah for Umrah. The department is equipped with breast screening devices, including mammography, ultrasound, and MRI. Also, samples and biopsies are taken inside the department. It is the only department providing this important service at Makkah Health Affairs, serving all Makkah’s hospitals and healthcare centers,” stated the Affairs.

It is noteworthy that the department has recently been enhanced with a breast biopsy device to suck breast calcifications and small tumors for providing accurate diagnosis in such cases. All these services are offered to beneficiaries by following formal procedures of referrals from Makkah’s hospitals and healthcare centers, or via MOH’s Breast Cancer Early Detection Program.
