HIMSS Conference and Exhibition to Kick off Next Week in Riyadh

The Ministry of Health (MOH) in collaboration with the Saudi Health Council (SHC) and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) will organize the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference and exhibition over the period from Oct. 7th-11th, 2018 (corresponding to Muharram 27th-Safar 2nd, 1440H.) at Four Seasons Hotel, Kingdom Ballroom in Riyadh. The gathering will discuss current challenges, future plans and possible solutions in the field of healthcare at local and international levels. It will also discuss the latest health techniques and means to utilize them and highlight the vital role of e-health service and its contributions to providing the best possible services of rendering health care for all beneficiaries. The conference aims to raise awareness about the importance of the healthcare IT and its effective role in upgrading performance, improving services and the optimal use of resources in the health sectors. 

The conference will be attended by experts and specialists in the field of e-healthcare from the Kingdom and abroad, and will hold many lectures and workshops, some of them for the first time in the Middle East, with the participation of international lecturers in the field of IT and healthcare. The lectures will be free of charge or at a reduced price.

It is noteworthy that the e-health initiative is reckoned one of the health system's initiatives under the National Transformation Program 2020, which will improve the efficiency of healthcare through adopting IT and digital transformation with the aim of providing 40% of the Kingdom population with unified e-medical records.

Under the new initiative, the system will provide physicians and nurses of the healthcare sector with patients' data at any time they need including all documented health information, clinical and administrative service, communication and remote counseling. This advanced system is expected to reduce medical and diagnostic errors and side effects of diseases. It will also provide access to online continuing medical education.
