The Ministry of Health has reiterated the importance of applying the highest standards of food quality and safety in hospitals in Makkah, Madinah and holy sites during this year's Hajj season, 1439H. It called for applying the standards on all food processes and tightening control and supervision when serving meals, affirming that all nutrition sections at health facilities and holy sites are ready to receive pilgrims and MOH's health service providers who are highly qualified specialists commissioned to supervise nutrition works during this year's Hajj. They include 92 specialists, technicians and accountants in nutrition fields. In the same vein, MOH has praised the efforts of nutrition directors and employees of nutrition sections at the holy sites for accomplishing the jobs assigned to them as per the prescribed plan.

MOH praised the great services provided by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to facilitate the Hajj works, as "we are all honored to serve pilgrims". It also praised the support and follow-up of the Health Ministry, his deputies and heads of Hajj committees who spare no effort to serve pilgrims.

Makkah Health Affairs has reviewed a number of issues including nutrition plan in Hajj, unifying nutrition works, approving workers' files and developing alternative emergency plan, as well as viewing a presentation by the committee's members on readiness of all sites in regard to maintenance, cleanness and other requirements. As part of the ongoing preparations, the MOH's nutrition committee toured hospitals in the holy sites.

It is noteworthy that the nutrition committee supervises 11 hospitals and sites providing around 350,000 meals during this year's Hajj season. Earlier, MOH held a special meeting during which they discussed Jeddah's Health Affairs support to nutrition sections in hospitals, adopted quality mechanism and application of nutrition policies and procedures.
