King Saud Hospital- Unaizah: Successful Partial Hip Replacement for Woman in Her 80s

A medical team at King Saud Hospital- Unaizah has successfully conducted a sophisticated surgical operation for an 83-year-old Saudi woman suffering from severe hip pains. After due medical and radiological checkups, she was diagnosed with left hip fracture, in addition to geriatric syndromes, diabetes, hypertension and degenerative arthritis. The team decided to operate on her. During an 80-minute-surgery, the team removed the fractured hip bones and replaced the partial hip. Following a comprehensive medical rehabilitation by the hospital's physiotherapy team, the patient restored her ability to walk perfectly, thank Allah. The 294-bed hospital conducted 2,189 surgical operations during the first half of this year.
 
It is noted that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the National Transformation Plan 2020 towards achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The program covers 70 hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.
