Qassim Cardiac Center: Child Saved from a Bullet Through His Heart

The medical cath. team of Children's Cardiac Unit at Prince Sultan Cardiac Center has successfully taken a bullet out of a child's heart through a cardiac cath. with no surgical intervention.

The Consultant Cardiologist and Interventionist Dr. Abdullah Al Qwee said that the center received the 11-year-old child after being hit by an air gun's bullet during his tampering. The bullet penetrated his chest cavity and settled in the right side of his heart. "This is a very rare case. Immediately, the child was admitted into the cardiac ICU. After confirmation of his health's stability, the child was taken to the catheterization lab where the bullet was extracted  by Allah's Grace in a record time without complications. Thank Allah the child was discharged in good health.

Notably, the Center provides integrated cardiovascular healthcare to all age groups in Qassim as well as neighboring regions. In 2016, the Center conducted 4,210 caths and 382 cardiac surgeries. The Center is also accredited as a training center for six residency programs.
