Coordination Meeting between MOH and BIP
03 February 2017
In continuation of the efforts carried out by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution (BIP) to activate their agreement about the referral of those who violate the Health Profession Practice Law to the BIP for taking statutory actions against them, a coordination meeting has been held the day before yesterday between a number of officials from two parties. During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues related to the agreement and the ways to reinforce its items, in addition to the irregularities which are reckoned as crimes punishable by imprisonment. They also discussed how to unify the procedure between the MOH’s Health Affairs Directorates and BIP branches, as well as fighting those claiming such alternative or folk medicine practices.

The MOH has begun last week to refer those who violate the Health Profession Practice Law to the BIP. Hence, the BIP branch in Al-Qassim stopped unlicensed cauterizer in the city, whom has been observed by the MOH, and then imprisoned pending investigation. This action comes within the framework of controlling the non-statutory practices that endanger the patients’ health and safety.

It is worth mentioning that the MOH has established a new agency, entrusted with the follow-up of the commitment to the MOH’s regulations and professional ethics in both the public and private sectors.
