MOH Qualifies the First Batch of “Tarmeez” Health Program
16 October 2016
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has wrapped up a 14-week course on Tarmeez” Health Program at the headquarters of the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) in Riyadh. This course comes as part of the MOH’s plan to implement and use health coding in all medical records sections at the MOH’s hospitals and primary healthcare centers across the Kingdom, in such a manner that contributes to the improvement of quality.

The course has been attended by 28 trainees from the medical records staff at the MOH’s hospitals throughout the different regions. The availability of accurate, legible and documented information about the patient’s condition in his medical record, whether in a hardcopy or a softcopy, is reckoned the basis of any project to improve the quality, the matter which is very necessary to enable the encoder to read that information afterwards and turn it into symbols and codes used by the hospital, MOH, CBAHI and other organizers of the health sector in the performance assessment, as well as planning and drawing health policies accurately, in addition to health research, and the financial compensation given subsequently by the government and private insurance alike.

The training of this first batch comes as part of the agreement signed between the MOH and CBAHI. By virtue of it, the CBAHI, as a representative in the Saudi Health Information Management Associates (SHIMA) pertinent to it, and the National Commission for Health Information Management, shall train and qualify the first 100 MOH’s medical encoders, as s part of the partnership between the various government sectors.
