10 August 2016
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has geared up to deal with cases of heat exhaustion and sunstrokes among pilgrims; as this year Hajj season is expected to witness high temperature. Hence, the MOH has equipped a number of its facilities in the Holy City of Makkah, the Holy Sites and Madina to handle cases of heat exhaustion and sunstrokes, by means of providing the proper ventilation through water sprinkling fans, which proved its effect on reducing temperature. Thus, 208 additional fans have been installed for better ventilation in Makkah and the Holy Sites. Madinah has been also provided with a number of those fans, in addition to a specialized center at Al-Ansar Hospital in Madinah. Besides, additional beds (totaling 79 beds) have been added and dedicated for sunstrokes to bring the total number of dedicated beds for sunstrokes at the Holy Sites to 216 beds.
