Ministers of Health, Agriculture and Municipal and Rural Affairs Meet on Combating MERS-CoV

The Minsters of Health, Agriculture and Municipal and Rural Affairs held a coordination meeting Thursday at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Health (MOH). Other participating in the meeting were MOH officials concerned with combating the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). Prior to the meeting, the ministers paid a visit to the Coronavirus Control Room at the Command and Control Center (CCC).  
 
During their meeting, the ministers reviewed the current situation of the fight against MERS-CoV, and discussed the virus control executive plan they had agreed upon during their last meeting. They also touched on the progress made on the plan so far. The participants probed the steps taken by the three ministries in this context, and praised the coordination and concerted efforts going on between the working groups concerned in the three ministries. They also highlighted their success in overcoming the challenges associated with MERS-CoV control.  
 
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the potential steps the three ministries are jointly planning to take. The three ministers agreed to hold monthly meetings in this regard, in addition to other meetings to be held whenever the need arises. The deputy ministers concerned in these ministries shall hold regular meetings to follow up implementation of what has been planned. The participants agreed, also, to involve the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA) in the Coronavirus Control Room, through which to follow up progress on the fight against MERS-CoV infection transmission from camels.
