MOH Managed to Refer 3,181 Patients Last Week, Including 132 Life-Saving Cases
07 October 2015
Thanks be to Allah, the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) Referral Program (Ehalati) has managed to save the lives of 132 patients, after delivering specialized services at reference hospitals, and referred 3,181 others over the period from September 27th to October 3rd, 2015 (corresponding to Dhul-Hijjah 14th to 20th, 1436H). This comes as part of the unstinting support to provide specialized therapeutic services throughout the regions of the Kingdom.

This was announced by the Supervisor of Ehalati Program, Mr. Suleiman Ahmad Al-Sharie, who revealed that out of the referred cases, through an automated and paperless system, to the specialized and reference hospitals, 2,049 patients (amounting to 64.4%) were approved, 738 progressing cases (at a rate of 23.2%) are still being considered, while 252 cases (at a rate of 7.9%) received their treatment in the same hospital, and 142 cases (at a rate of 4.5%) were placed on the waiting list, and will be handled in the coming period depending on the health condition.

Mr. Al-Sharie pointed out that the life-saving cases amounted to 132 (at a rate of 4.15%), whereas the emergency cases amounted to 1,222 (at a rate of 38.42%). Inpatients amounted to 913 cases (at a rate of 28.70%), and the cases referred to the outpatient clinics amounted to 914 (at a rate of 28.73% of all referred cases).

It's worth mentioning that ‘Ehalati’ Program is reckoned one of the new e-programs carried out by the Ministry of Health. Advantages of the program include providing medical counseling among physicians in the various medical facilities to study the health situation of the patient without the need for transferring him. It also provides all the logistic and coordination-related requirements to refer the patient from one medical facility to another. In addition, the program provides an accurate archiving and statistical system, which contains information of the referred patients through the program to different health facilities across the Kingdom.
