The Second Conference of the Saudi Endometriosis Group Kicks off

The Saudi Endometriosis Group will hold its second conference at Dr. Suleiman Al-Habib Hospital, Rayan branch, in Riyadh on March 14th-15th, 2015, with the participation of six international speakers from Sweden, Singapore, Lebanon, Jordan, Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in addition to speakers from within the Kingdom, according to Dr. Hisham Arab, the Chairman of the Group. 
 
He added that due to the magnitude of the endometriosis disease which affects almost 10% of women and its side effects on woman's health, notably the chronic pelvic pain and sever and repeated menstruation pain, as well as its impact on women's fertility as a major factor in cases of infertility among women, the conference will tackle several scientific axes covering each aspect related to the disease. Also, 20 scientific papers will be presented during the conference, discussing the most important researches in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, in addition to scientific researches, currently conducted on animals to reach the best remedy for endometriosis.
 
Dr. Arab confirmed that the spread of awareness among women is one of the main axes of this conference, where the attendees will review the achievements made by the group during the last year in this regard, adding that a number of female medicine students from the universities of King Saud and Princess Noura will display what they have been doing to spread awareness about the endometrial migratory disease.  
 
On his part, the Chairman of the Saudi Laparoscopic Society Dr. Sameer Sindi said it is known that the laparoscopic surgery is the most important method of treatment for this disease, therefore the organizing committee decided to hold a workshop on the laparoscopic surgery for women on the day preceding the conference. The opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday March 14th, 2015 with the attendance of the Secretary General of the Saudi Obstetrics and Gynecological Society Dr. Faisal Kashgery and Representative of Dr. Suleiman Al-Habib Hospital Dr. Meqbel Al-Hedaithi as well as the sponsoring medical companies, led by Bayer HealthCare in Saudi Arabia.   
 
He pointed out that the conference is the second of its kind, noting that the first gathering was held in the city of Jeddah two years ago. He underline that the Saudi Endometriosis Group is planning to hold its third meeting in 2017, Allah willing, in the eastern region with the aim of spreading awareness about the disease to all regions of the Kingdom and benefiting all medical practitioners in this country.
