Dr. Marghalani: The Conference Comes in Continuation of the March of the GCC Health Ministers Council to Develop Health Services

His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Ahmed Al-Khateeb, will open tomorrow (Wednesday), the 78th Conference of the GCC Health Ministers Council to be held under the theme (Measuring Health Systems: the Way to Excellence), in the presence of His Excellency the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and their Excellency the Gulf health ministers. The conference, which will last for two days, will take place at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh.
 
The Official Spokesman for the Ministry of Health (MOH), Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Marghalani, said that the conference comes in continuation of the march and efforts of the GCC Health Ministers Council to boost and support plans and strategies aiming at developing all services provides for citizens in the GCC countries in the different health sectors.
 
He explained that the conference will address many scientific topics related to developing health work systems, promoting their mechanisms and identifying the best practices and ways of excellence. "The conference will review the latest developments at the international level to make use of them in serving the people of the region," Dr. Marghalani said, shedding light on the importance of the theme of the conference and its compatibility with the renaissance witnessed by the health sectors in the GCC countries.
Dr. Marghalani further revealed that various vital health topics are on the agenda of the conference, including fighting non-communicable diseases, controlling cancer, as well as standards and regulations of cooperation with GCC health associations.
 
Resuming his speech about the conference, Dr. Marghalani noted that the gathering will probe also ways of combating smoking, occupational health, the statistical bulletin, major health indicators and the scientific forum of the financial and administrative affairs at the GCC health ministries.
 
"The meeting will also be tackling the issue of migrant workers and polio," Dr. Marghalani said, adding that the on-agenda topics include the e-link portal between the information centers in the GCC countries and the Executive Board, and ways to develop the health information systems.
 
He noted that among the issues to be raised, also, are smart cards, unified pharmaceutical procurement, hospital supplies, central pharmaceutical registration, as well as the GCC regulation for the continuing professional development and the technical discussions," he underlined.
 
Additionally, Dr. Marghalani pointed out that the ministers of health in the GCC countries are very keen to offer whatever concerns citizens of the Gulf countries in the health field.
 
Within the same vein, Dr. Marghalani further explained that the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia is honored to host this significant conference, meanwhile welcoming their Excellency the ministers of health in GCC countries to their second country and wishing them a pleasant stay and success in their conference under the leadership and support of the wise rulers of the GCC countries.
