22 December 2014
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has formed a committee including a number of consultant physicians and specialists, to investigate the issue of the girl “Soulaf”, who passed away following a surgery she underwent at King Khalid Hospital in Najran. The case will be referred, as per the statutory regulations, to the Legal Health Authority to study it and take the statutory procedures against those proven guilty or negligent.

It is worth mentioning that the Legal Health Authority is reckoned a legitimate court, headed by a class-A judge, assigned by the Minister of Justice, and including in its membership two members selected from the academic health staff by the Minister of Higher Education, added to a legal advisor and two health experts. These authorities (totaling 21) are disseminated all over the Kingdom’s regions and governorates, and their decisions are issued pursuant to the judicial and Shariah laws and regulations.

Within the same vein, the MOH has highlighted its keenness to improve its services and follow up the workflow at all facilities; in an endeavor to prevent any shortcomings, meanwhile taking the statutory procedures against those proven to be negligent in serving patients.
