4168 Saudi Nurses Serve Pilgrims within the Holy Sites
02 October 2014
The Saudi nationals made up the highest proportion of the nursing workforce seconded for working at the hospitals of the Hajj areas to serve the Hajj performers. They numbered 4168 nurses; of which the male nursing accounted for the biggest proportion by 2281 nurses, whereas the female nursing amounted to 1887 ones.
Still, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has been interested in recruiting the Saudi nurses from all the regions. As such, the Saudi nursing cadres have raced to early register in the Hajj Program, and get ready to participate in serving the Hajj performers, as part of the fully fledged health system which receives big support from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, May Allah protect him.
Within the same vein, the MOH assigned 2534 non-Saudi nurses for working within its health facilities in the Hajj areas. It made a point of distributing them to the health centers   in the sites near the foreign Hajj performers in the Holy Sites; in order to facilitate the communicating and dealing with the non-Saudi Hajj performers.
In a similar fashion, the MOH conducted intensive training programs and courses to the nursing crews taking part in serving the Hajj performers. The training courses and programs were implemented in main regions before the Hajj season kicked off. In addition to this, those seconded to the Hajj programs went through training programs within the hospitals of the Holy Sites. This aims at delivering the highest preventive and medical services to the Hajj performers, and training the nursing crew on how to deal with the different illness cases.
