11 September 2014
The Director General of Hail Health Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Mohsen bin Saud Al-Ammar, honored yesterday (Wednesday) Nursing Technician Alyaa Salim Omair Al-Shammari, an employee of Hail Health Affairs, for taking the initiative as a nurse to save the life of a Saudi young man injured in a traffic accident on the Hail-Madinah Road.

Dr. Al-Ammar said that “the nurse Alyaa Al-Shammari has materialized a humanitarian stance of which health professionals in general, and nurses in particular, should be proud. It is such an impressive, praiseworthy behavior indeed.”

For her part, the honored nurse said, “What I have done, with the help of her husband, is not more than a humanitarian duty to save an injured person whose life was in danger, when his lung stopped breathing and was mired in his blood bleeding from different parts of his body as a result of the traffic accident.” She added that she took the initiative and provided the necessary first aid assistance, and maintained his safety until the arrival of the Saudi Red Crescent Team, who transferred the injured to King Khalid Hospital.

Concluding, she expressed her happiness to receive such an honor, and thanked the Director General of Hail Health Affairs, Dr. Abul-Mohsen Al-Ammar, for his kind gesture which will be a motivation for herself as well as her colleagues to exert additional efforts in the health service anywhere and anytime.

It is worth mentioning that Alyaa Al-Shammari has just completed 20 years in her service as a nurse at the mental health hospital, just one day before saving the life of the young man in his twenties.
