Al-Wahaibi: Great E-Health Projects to Be Launched

His Excellency the Advisor to the Minister of Health and the Supervisor-General of the Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed al-Wahaibi, held a press conference at the ministerial headquarters early in the day. During the event, Dr. al-Wahaibi has announced that the International E-Health Conference entitled: “Harmonization and Change Management”, is to be organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) under the gracious auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, in collaboration with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)-Middle East, on April 13th-14th, 2014 (corresponding to Jumada Al-Akerah 13th-14th, 1435H), at Jeddah Hilton Hotel.
 
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. al-Wahaibi extended his thanks and gratitude to Dr. Al-Rabeeah for sponsoring the activities of the e-health conference and launching a host of great projects of the Saudi e-Health Transaction Program (Rabet). This comes as part of the Saudi Ministry of Health (MOH)'s endeavors to meet the aspirations of the Saudi rulers, May Allah protect them, in terms of providing high-level health services for citizens and enforcing its slogan "Patient First".
 
Furthermore, Dr. al-Wahaibi highlighted that the conference will touch upon the latest developments in the field of health information technology worldwide, and will highlight the pivotal role of the e-health service, and its contributions to providing the highest possible quality of health care services for beneficiaries across the world. Moreover, it will draw attention to distinct progress achieved by the Saudi Ministry of Health, and the strategies it adopts to give a boost to the e-health domain, with a view to improving the quality and efficiency of the health systems for all Saudi citizens and residents. That is brought into effect by a constellation of specialists in the e-health field at both the regional and international levels, with a participation of a number of MOH senior officials.
 
Dr. al-Wahaibi further noted that a wide range of regional and international e-health senior officials will participate in the conference of this year. Amid the attendees are:
 
  • Richard Alvarez: the CEO of Canada Health Infoway in Canada.
  • Professor Simon de Lusignan: BSc (Biochem), MBBS, MSc (Health Informatics), MD (Res), Certified Expert in Information Systems and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London.
  • Claire Mc. Carthy: the internationally recognized change management/technology adoption strategist with extensive experience supporting people in healthcare organizations through transitions driven by software implementations and other large-scale changes.
On the sidelines of the conference, a number of workshops will be launched to demonstrate a range of experiences and information and administrative systems applied at different health sectors. These workshops will be delivered by some specialists in the domain of health information system technology, currently working inside and outside the Kingdom. Besides, an annexed exhibition will be hosted during the event. Well-known national and international companies and institutions specialized in the health informatics technology will participate in this fair.
 
It is worth mentioning that the e-health conference of this year comes in continuation to the successful outcomes of the previous conference, which was held last year at Four Season Hotel in Riyadh and came up with many recommendations and suggestions amid a high turnout by specialists and those interested in the field of e-health.
