In addition, teamwork was formed in the hospitals, according to the bed capacity of each, to help and support the operational phase therein.

This came during the third meeting of the MOH's executive board, which was chaired by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah on Wednesday morning. The 1435H-year meeting was attended by the senior officials at the ministry. Dr. Al-Rabeeah also called upon all MOH's employees to do their best to make use of the budget in the best way with a view to satisfying the aspirations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, as well as His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and His Royal Highness the Second Deputy Prime Minister, May All protect them. Furthermore, Dr. Al-Rabeeah stressed the importance of meeting the needs of citizens, pointing out that this year will witness, Allah willing, the inauguration of several health projects covering all areas and provinces at the Kingdom.

Within the same vein, Dr. Al-Rabeeah highlighted that the executive board is mainly concerned with the health and safety of patients; considering it one of the fundamental goals of the board. Dr. Al-Rabeeah further stressed that the executive board adopts the MOH motto, “Patient First”, that is to be added other noble ideas that focus on good treatment, quality of performance, excellence, and keenness on the patient's service and satisfaction.

Meanwhile, the board has approved a decision to establish a patient safety department; that is to be added to applying a package of programs to monitor and address the serious and negative events, and follow up their application at all regions and provinces. The executive board affirmed also the need for providing more training programs to health practitioners at all levels.

Another proposal to form a committee, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister for Therapeutic Services and membership of the concerned departments, was also approved by the board with a view to developing criteria and policies meant to enhance and improve communication inside the ministry.

Moreover, the executive board has discussed the possibility of applying standards friendly for people with disabilities at all installations affiliating to the ministry and the private health sector by 2020, Allah willing. “This step will make it easy for those dear people to obtain the services without any discomfort or trouble,” said Dr. Al-Rabeeah, adding that these policies and criteria will be applied to the existing and new health facilities.

On conclusion, the executive board has valued a decision taken by the Health Ministers Council for GCC States in its last meeting held in Kuwait, as the council had approved the Saudi Arabia's proposal to mark Feb. 1 of each year an awareness day in the Gulf region.
