In Implementation of the King’s Directives, Dr. Al-Rabeeah Signs a Dialysis Services Provision Project

In implementation of the gracious directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, May Allah protect him, to provide and develop the dialysis services in line with the latest global standards applied by the Ministry of Health (MOH), His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, has signed at his ministerial office today morning the first part of a Dialysis Services Provision Project with a German company, targeting both types of dialysis (blood and peritoneal) for all patients whether adults or young. This project is reckoned a redemptive treatment for those patients with chronic kidney failure, who receive health care at the MOH dialysis centers and units, as it provides a high quality remedial service.
 
Within the same vein, Dr. Al-Rabeeah has lauded the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his relentless attention to health services, appraising the invitation of the big global companies to provide high quality health services to citizens all over the Kingdom’s regions and governorates. Besides, Dr. Al-Rabeeah extended his immense thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for his constant keenness on the citizens’ health and contracting with one of the largest global companies specialized in the care of patients with renal failure.
 
In a press statement following signing the contract, Dr. Al-Rabeeah said, “Six international companies from the United States, Germany and Sweden had been invited,” noting that the project has been finally awarded to a German company with a total cost of SR 980 million.”
 
Dr. Al-Rabeeah has pointed out that the service provider will establish and rent dialysis centers, numbered 93 centers, disseminated all over the regions and governorates, and will provide all the necessaries of furnishing and equipping with devices, consumables tools, and the integrated medical staff, according to the highest level of standards and quality; in an endeavor to provide the most effective and distinctive treatment methods.
 
Moreover, Dr. Al-Rabeeah went on adding that the project will be implemented for five years, targeting 10 thousand patients with dialysis, at three main phases, given that the next phases are to be commenced only after meeting all indicators of success at the previous phases, which include the assessment of clinical and laboratorial performance, patient satisfaction, morbidity and mortality.
 
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Rabeeah indicated, “The period of the first phase is 24 months, during which the focus will be on the big cities with high population, and where the major dialysis centers are. While the second phase will be for 12 months, during which the service will be provided to the cities of medium population, meanwhile, finishing the rest of the major cities. The third phase will continue for six-months, which will cover the rest cities and the Kingdom’s peripheral centers.”
 
For his part, the CEO of the German company, Mr. Daq Anderson, has praised the MOH’s efforts in providing health care services for patients with kidney failure across a global specialized company, which has a wide-range experience in this domain.
 
“The company will commence at the beginning of next May by running the first center, and it will gradually complete the other stages through providing the medical, technical and administrative cadres”, said Mr. Anderson.
 
Finally, He explained that the company in the first phase will provide the service for about 50% of dialysis patients in the Kingdom, adding that the number of clinics will be determined according to the requirements of each city.
