Prince Khalid Inaugurates the “Saudi Healthcare Innovation Conference 2013” at KFMC

His Royal Highness, the Governor of Riyadh region, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, highlighted the importance of the development of health services provided to patients, meanwhile calling upon all to make an effective contribution, through the introduction and development of modern technologies, in a manner that promotes the health sector in the Kingdom.
 
Within the same vein, Prince Khalid expressed his proud of the health services provided at King Fahd Medical City (KFMC), the first and foremost of which is the stimulation of innovators, as well as supporting them in unleashing their creativity and innovations, in order to make them come true for the interest of patients and the whole society. Furthermore, he pointed out that the Ministry of Health (MOH), through its services, works on developing the medical services for patients.
 
This was announced yesterday during the Saudi Healthcare Innovation Conference II, inaugurated by His Highness the Governor of Riyadh at KFMC, in the presence of  His Excellency the Minister of Health, the Vice Ministers, KFMC officials, and some domestic and international experts of creativity and innovation development at KFMC main auditorium.
 
In a press statement, Prince Khalid went on adding: “The contracts of King Abdulaziz Public Transportation Project “Railways” have been signed, and the executive companies have begun receiving their locations, as well as hiring the manpower and obtaining the needed equipment”, stressing that the project is going on as planned, and will be completed on time, Allah Willing.
 
For his part, the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, underlined the MOH keenness on supporting and encouraging innovators, as well as developing the concept of initiative and creativity, and adopting this culture at all health sectors. He also wished that such efforts lead to the development of health services and turn them into tangible reality to be experienced by the Saudi citizen.
 
Within the same vein, Dr. Al-Rabeeah pointed out that the Ministry of Health, by the grace of Allah in the first place, and then by the unstinting support of the Wise Leadership, obtains a huge network of health facilities, reflecting the forms of medical and scientific creativity, including medical cities and specialized hospitals, which boast their creative technical staff and high quality medical equipment. Moreover, he indicated that KFMC has sought to take care of innovators, develop their skills and support them, in an endeavor to bring their innovative products to the actual application, for the interest of patients.
 
For his part, the CEO of King Fahd Medical City, Dr. Mahmoud bin Abdul-Jabbar Al-Yamany, extended his thanks and gratitude to His Highness the Governor of Riyadh region, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, for attending the inauguration ceremony of the Saudi Healthcare Innovation Conference 2013, and the thorough attention he always pays to health services in Riyadh region, in addition to his unrelenting follow-up meant to promote the performance level at health facilities all over the region and provinces. It didn’t escape Dr. Al-Yamany’s notice to laud the colossal support of the Minister of Health to KFMC; seeking to provide best services for patients and visitors.
 
“KFMC is famous for taking the lead of entrenching the culture of innovation in the health domain, beginning with organization of the Creativity Festival last year, and the launch of Health Innovation Contest this year in the Kingdom; with participation of 217 projects, 44 of which have been nominated to be viewed by the arbitration committee. Then, the committee selected 14 projects of them, for training their owners on how to prepare work plans, and be directed by specialist instructors; in order to reinforce their opportunities of investors’ support, then to come up with a product, raising the efficiency level of the provided health care,” added Dr. Al-Yamany.
 
Furthermore, he wished that KFMC will be the incubator for innovation all over the health sectors in the Kingdom, highlighting its desire to promote the culture of initiative and creativity amid workers at health sectors.
 
Subsequently, the Governor of Riyadh Region, has watched a visual presentation, which provided a historical background on the Medical City and its developments over the past years, in addition to another presentation, showing the idea of the establishment and development of medical cities in the Kingdom. Besides, Prince Khalid electronically inaugurated two projects, including laying the foundation stone for Al-Qawqa‘ah Center, and the expansion of Prince Salman Heart Center.
 
Finally, Prince Khalid has honored a number of innovators, who won the awards of the National Healthcare Innovation Contest, which was formerly announced by KFMC in the four areas, namely; e-Health and Smart Hospital, Medical Equipment, Biotechnology, and Health care, Education and Health Training. At last Prince Khalid handed the awards over to the winners including: Eng. Afrah Al-‘Anzi, Eng. Najd Al-Moujon “Bleeb” project”, Dr. Nora Al-‘Amro, Dr. Adel Al-Murshid, Dr. Tamim Al-Ghanimon “Commitment to Medicines” project, Ph. Kholoud Al-Ruwaili on her recipe for blind and visually impaired patients, Amer Al-Jeroshi, Carl Bagiw, Sassi and Koeman on “Protection against Fall” project, as well as Dr. Issam Al-Shoail and Dr. Falah Al-Reda on  “A device for Connecting Blood Vessels” project.
