31 October 2013
His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, has approved the resolution of the committee assigned to considerer regularities at Hail Health Affairs General Directorate, regarding cancelling the practice license of a consultant physician, as well as warning another consultant physician, both working at one of Hail’s hospitals; due to their negligence in the treatment of a medical case; as they had not dealt with the case in accordance with the scientifically recognized medical standards.

The decision was taken based on the outcomes of investigations conducted by the Medical Irregularities Committee at Hail Health Affairs General Directorate, which proved the existence of shortages and negligence in the treatment and follow-up of a female patient, the matter causing her some medical complications.

Within the same vein, the investigations showed that the first consultant physician committed health negligence by taking wrong therapeutic procedures and refraining from following up and monitoring a case, causing health complications to it. Therefore, the Committee decided to cancel his license and delete his name from the Licensed Physicians Record, pursuant to article 32, paragraph 3 of the Health Practice Law.

Furthermore, the investigations turned out that the second consultant physician did not receive the case, in accordance with the recognized medical standards. Hence, the Committee decided to warn him, pursuant to article 32, paragraph 1 of the Health Practice Law.

It is worth mentioning that these decisions are taken within the framework of strenuous efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to upgrade the performance level in its health facilities, and to monitor its employees’ performance; in such a manner ensuring providing high-level services, and maintaining the workflow at these facilities, in concordance with the professionally recognized regulations and procedures.
