(MOH) Closes Medical Facilities due to Violations

The Vice Minister of Health for Health Affairs, Dr. Mansour Naser Al Howasi has approved the decision of the Irregularities Committee of Private Healthcare Institutions in Riyadh, which included a cautionary closing of two clinics due to violating the Health Facilities and Pharmaceutical regulations. The violations included employing unlicensed staff, expiration of staff and clinics’ licenses, shortage of nursing staff, no internists nor radiologist in the Expatriate Tests Department.

Moreover, the decision included a cautionary closing of an optical specialized center due to violating Pharmaceutical Facilities and Pharmaceutics regulations. The violations included employing unlicensed staff, as well as running the center with an expired license.


Furthermore, the decision included a cautionary closing of the nursery and children section in a private hospital in Riyadh, suspending labor surgeries in the hospital for violating the Pharmaceutical Facilities and Pharmaceutics regulations, and failing to employ a consultant physician or a qualified neonatal specialist.  Also, the nursery section operates daily with only two doctors for 24 hours non-stop. In addition, there is no pediatric consultant to follow-up and supervise the admissions, emergency and ambulance section in the hospital, the nursery section is below standards, as it only has two respirators, one of which is out-dated, and not equipping the isolation room nor high-frequency breathing apparatus.

For its part, the Ministry of Health (MOH) stressed that it will publish these decisions and reveal who the violators are once these decisions are finalized. In addition, it will implement all the legal procedures including the cautionary closure of any health facility that does not comply with the required health service’s quality standards. The aim is to improve its condition and eliminate all shortcomings in accordance with the stipulated legal procedures.
