Dr. Al-Rabeeah Heads MOH Delegation to the Meetings of WHO Regional Committee

His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Rabeeah, is to head the delegation of the Ministry of Health (MOH), participating in the meetings of the WHO Sixtieth Session of the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Committee held in Muscat, Oman over the period from 27 to 30 October 2013 (corresponding to 22 to 25 Dhul-Hijjah 1434H).
 
The agenda of the session includes discussing the challenges and procedures taken in the strategic areas; namely, the assessment of health systems to cover all health aspects with regard to challenges, opportunities, roadmap, maternal and child health, reproductive health, nutrition, communicable and non-communicable diseases, readiness and response to emergency, the regional strategy to improve the civil affairs and vital statistics registration systems, eradication of polio, the regional consequences of the final stage strategy, the tobacco-free initiative, attainment of the millennium health-related developmental goals, the world health goals after 2015, reinforcement of the health systems with regard to challenges and priorities, the labor options in the future, implementation of the international health regulations, and update of information about the emergency .
 
Within the same vein, the session will review the international health regulations as well as the additional extension criteria; that is to be added to discussing the implementation of the UN Political Statement with regard to prevention and combating of non-communicable diseases, based on the regional framework. It is noteworthy that the delegation accompanying the Minister of Health includes the Undersecretary of Minister for Public Health, the Supervisor General of International Relations General Department, the Director General of Genetic and Chronic Diseases, and the Director of the Anti-AIDS National Program.
