Dr. Al-Suwailem: The International Mass-Gathering Medicine Center Will Be Added to the Kingdom's Overall Achievements

His Excellency the Member of the Saudi Shura Council, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Suwailem, said that the 2nd International Conference for Mass Gathering Medicine, whose activities began on Saturday in the capital city of Riyadh under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, May Allah protect him, is considered primarily a scientific meeting for an elite group of scientists in the field of human gathering management.
 
In a press statement delivered on the sidelines of the Conference, Dr. Al-Suwailem focused on the importance of holding dialogues with scientists as well as the exchange of information among specialists concerned with the issues of human gatherings.
 
Dr. Al-Suwailem said, “Regardless of the issues of the Mass Gathering Medicine and their magnitude, this Conference is considered one of the priorities which the countries must discuss, in terms of its scientific and analytical aspects, studies, preparation and advantages.”
 
Dr. Al-Suwailem highlighted that this Conference will allow for all staff concerned with the Hajj season to take advantage of the ways of managing the mass gatherings, and to benefit from the style adopted by others, affirming that officials and experts can also overlook the large number of people in the Hajj season and learn of the Saudi experience in managing their affairs through providing a lot of services for the pilgrims.
 
Within the same vein, Dr. Al-Suwailem underscored that although the occurrence of numerous incidents in the past, but the Kingdom managed to overcome such problems, noting that the workers in different sectors have become aware of many rich experiences and open-minded to the world with regard to the provision of services, whether the health services or the services facilitating the flow of Hajj
for the pilgrims.
 
Dr. Al-Suwailem considered the establishment of the International Mass-Gathering Medicine Center as a fruit of such conferences, highlighting that the Center aims mainly to establish a research and vocational training center concerned with the mass gathering medicine, as well as developing programs in the internal medicine to serve in gatherings, and providing national cadres to serve the crowds of pilgrims and Umrah performers.
 
Moreover, Dr. Al-Suwailem pointed out that the Center is expected to help specialists in conducting their researches, and to develop strategies with the aim of reaching a scientific-based plan rather than the random tests performed by pilgrims, making it necessary to reach a study supported by such a Center.
 
In conclusion, Dr. Al-Suwailem stressed that this project will be one of the Kingdom's overall achievements.
