On Shawwal 28th, 1434H (corresponding to September 3rd, 2013), the Governor of Assir, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdulaziz, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Rabeeah, will inaugurate a host of health projects in Assir Region, at a total cost of over SR 1.359.000.000. These projects include the inauguration of a 200-bed-capacity maternity and children hospital in Abha, the inauguration of a 200-bed-capacity maternity and children hospital in Khamis-Meshit, laying the foundation stone of Almo' Men's Hospital (200 beds), Thehran al-Janoob Hospital (200 beds), a regional laboratory, a blood bank, a comprehensive rehabilitation center, 68 primary healthcare centers, a building for medical supply warehouses, a workers' housing for Abha Maternity and Children Hospital, establishing parks, buildings and generators at Assir Central Hospital.
The Director General of Assir Health Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim bin Sulaiman al-Hefthi, has pointed out that the 200-bed-capacity Abha Maternity and Children Hospital has been established at a total cost of SR 225.500.00. It is a three-storey hospital, the ground floor of which includes the emergency sections, obstetrics and gynecology clinics, the laboratory and the radiology section, in addition to the central sterilization section and administrative sections.
The first floor of the hospital, according to Dr. al-Hefthi, includes newborn ICUs, delivery rooms, the accouchement (post-delivery) section, women's ICU section, respiratory therapy section (7 beds), and operation theaters. The second floor accommodates the pregnancy and gynecology section and the day-surgery section, in addition to other supportive sections (warehouses, the morgue, the laundry, and nurses' housing [97 rooms]).
He went on to say, “The Maternity and Children Hospital in Khamis-Meshit, built at a total cost of SR 240.000.000 accommodates 200 beds. The main building consists of four floors: the basement (cellar) includes the central sterilization section, the laundry, the morgue, the communication center, the archive, the medical maintenance section, the mosque, and sewage treatment tanks. The ground floor accommodates the outpatient clinics, infection control section, administrative offices, children ICU, women's ICU, central kitchen, radiological section, laboratory, pharmacy, and supportive sections. The first floor includes pre-delivery rooms, post-delivery rooms, children ICUs, and delivery and operation theaters. The second floor includes neonatal ICUs, children hospitalization rooms, domestic violence sections, day-surgery sections.”
“In addition to that,” al-Hefthi continued, “the foundation stone of a number of health projects in Assir is about to be placed; including Almo' Men's Hospital (200 beds) at a cost of SR 212.143.664, Thehran al-Janoob Hospital (200 beds) at a cost of SR 225.098.000, the Regional Lab and Blood bank at a cost of SR 36.458.415, the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center at Assir Hospital at a cost of SR 19.273.775, a number of 68 primary healthcare centers in the region at a total cost of SR 244.078.838, a building for medical supply warehouses at a cost of SR 48.587.848, a workers' housing for Abha Maternity and Children Hospital at a cost of SR 50.692.150, as well as parks, buildings and generators at Assir Central Hospital at a cost of SR 34.338.737.”
