At noon today, patient ‘Khaled Muhsen Shaeri’ arrived at Riyadh Air Base pursuant to the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques -May Allah preserve his wellbeing-. Shaeri was transported from Jazan to Riyadh for treatment in King Fahad Medical City (KFMC). He is suffering from abnormal obesity weighting 610 kilograms. Shaeri was transported by a private airplane accompanied by a specialized medical team, and was then received by the Deputy Minister of Medicinal Services, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Homaidi, who headed the supervisory team. Also in wait for the patient was the Executive General Manager of (KFMC) Dr. Mahmoud Yamani.
The airplane departed at dawn this morning after being prepared for transporting the patient. It was fully equipped to cater his needs during the journey from Jazan to Riyadh.
Meanwhile, the authorities, directed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, - May Allah preserve his wellbeing-, and under the medical supervision of KFMD have conducted an experimental transportation operation to ensure the Shaeri’ s safety and avoid any possible risks. The Ministry of Defense represented by the Air Transport and Aeromedical Evacuation, the Ministry of Interior Affairs represented by Civil Defense, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, King Fahad Medical City (KFMC), and Jazan Health Affairs Directorate have all participated in the experiment.
It is worth mentioning that immediately after the directive of His Majesty, the Ministry of Health (MOH) formed a medical team to visit Shaeri’ in Jazan; in order to setup a transportation and treatment plan. Necessary requirements for such a case were also determined. The Ministry contacted specialist international companies to provide a special bed, wheelchair, heavy duty crane, and medical supplies needed in the ambulance.
Shaeri’ was tested by two representatives of the authorities involved. A plan was setup to evacuate and transport him from his place of residence (on the second floor) using a special crane. The building was adjusted as necessary to facilitate the transportation process.
Furthermore, the MOH has assigned a medical team from the ICU in King Fahad Hospital in Jazan to visit him daily and follow-up his case until he is transported.
The Ministry has expressed thanks to the participant sectors, wishing the patient a speedy recovery.
