CHS Considers Health Insurance
18 March 2013
The MOH Spokesman, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad Marghalani, has pointed out that health insurance for citizens is still under study by the Council of Health Services (CHS), since the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (2811/MB), dated on 05/12/1432H (corresponding to 1/11/2011), stipulates postponing the application of health insurance for citizens; until after being studied by CHS in coordination with the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI), as a requisite for submitting it to the Council of Ministers for guidance about it.

Dr. Marghalani went on adding that the Council of Health Services, with the participation of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance, is currently studying the methods of financing the health services and insurance, in a manner that achieves the world's most advanced approaches, meanwhile taking into account that the health insurance premium should not to be a burden on the citizen. Within the same vein, Dr. Marghalani denied what has been reported by some newspapers on the approval or adoption of the Health Insurance. “The insurance is still under consideration as one of the alternatives to funding the health services, and the most appropriate of alternatives will be decided by the dignified Council of Ministers,” stated Dr. Marghalani.
