Under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Second International Mass Gathering Medicine Conference will be organized by the Ministry of health in Riyadh, on 15-17/11/1434H. This was revealed by His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Rabeeah.
“I would like to extend heartfelt thanks and profound gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for patronizing this conference, which materializes his keen interest in, and unstinting concern about the health sector,” said Dr. al-Rabeeah, who expressed his appreciation for the gracious support bestowed by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques upon health care, which are absolutely meant to preserve citizens' health and safety.
It is worth mentioning the conference is expected to be attended by the Secretary General of the Arab League, the Secretary General of the GCC, the Director-General of WHO. It will also be attended by the health ministers of the GCC countries, Director of the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. That's to be added to the health ministers of the USA, France, Cuba, Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan, Indonesia, South Korea, members of the International Advisory Board, as well as experts and scholars from all over the world, in addition to representatives of numerous international and regional institutions and organizations.
The conference aims to take a closer look at the academic and empirical experiences formerly acquired at similar circumstances. It is also expected to enhance the efficiency of health procedures taken to handle human gatherings and agglomerations during Hajj and Umrah seasons. Among the objectives set for the conference, besides, is to review the Kingdom's experience during Hajj seasons, given the fact that it is an extraordinary experience involving over two million pilgrims in a limited space and specific period of time; which makes it a model to be followed.
The Ministry of Health pays thorough attention to this conference. The Minister has given his orders to form a committee headed by the Deputy Minister for Public Health to oversee the organization of, and preparation for the conference. The committee shall include in its membership representatives from all ministries and relevant authorities. Emanating from this conference are sub-committees to be headed by MOH officials. These committees continue to hold intense meetings with the purpose of coming up with an honorable conference of which the Kingdom will be proud.
