Poison Control Center Organizes a Training Course on HPLC Analysis in Riyadh

   Under the auspices of Her Excellency the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for Supportive Medical Services, Dr. Munirah Hemdan Al-Essaimi, the Poison Control and Forensic Chemistry Center, at Riyadh Health Affairs Directorate, has organized a training course on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC analysis) in Riyadh. The course lasted for three days (14-16 May, 2012).
 
The course was started with a speech delivered by the Director of Poison Control and Forensic Chemistry Center at Riyadh Health Affairs Directorate, Senior Laboratory Specialist Dr. Badr bin Abdullah Al-Nafisah, in which thanked the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for her generous support for the center. Then he welcomed the attendees, and pointed out that high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is one of the substantial fields, as it's indispensible for identifying narcotic drugs received by the Kingdom's poison control centers.
 
It followed that, the Director-General of Poison Control Centers, Dr. Raed Al-Khaial, delivered a speech in which he pointed out that this course comes within the framework of the series of training courses organized by the Poison Control Center General Department, with the aim to exchange scientific and practical experiences. In doing so, the department proceeds from its staunch belief in the importance of human resources, complies with the orders and directives given by His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, and concords with the great support granted for the department. 
 
For his part, the Assistant Director-General of Riyadh Health Affairs Directorate, Dr. Mohammed Al-Zahrani, mentioned that the center plays a significant role in the identification and detection of narcotic drugs. In cooperation with the other competent authorities, the center has been proving effective in the eradication of such notorious habit. At the end of the course, shields of honor were handed out to participants.
