MOH Approves the Establishment of 67 Health Projects at a Total Budget of over SR 7 Billion

    Within the framework of its integrated and comprehensive healthcare strategy, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has approved the establishment of 67 health projects throughout the Kingdom's regions, cities and provinces, at a total cost of over SR 7 billion, as part of the current fiscal year (1433/1434H).
 
Dr. Khaled bin Mohammed Merghalani, the MOH Spokes person, has revealed that the Ministry has adopted the establishment of 12 new hospitals, with a total bed capacity of 3100 beds, as well as a number of comprehensive medical clinics, oncology centers and specialized dental centers, in addition to the introduction of an electronic system for protection of infants, and furnishing workers' residence at all hospitals around the Kingdom, aside from supplying hospital with standby electric generators.
 
This announcement was made during the press conference held this morning at the MOH Headquarters. Dr. Merghalani affirmed that the projects adopted shall be carried out within the framework of the MOH Strategy for Integrated and Comprehensive Healthcare. He further pointed out that a variety of other health projects, to be established throughout the Kingdom's regions and provinces, have also been approved.
 
Dr. Merghalani made clear that the principle of justice has been taken into account while distributing these new hospitals; including Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Hospital (accommodating 500 beds, Riyadh), South-West Hail Hospital (accommodating 300 beds, Hail), Al-Majardah Hospital (accommodating 200 beds, Assir),  Al-Salil Hospital (accommodating 200 beds, Riyadh), Al-Ahsa Hospital (accommodating 500 beds, Eastern Province), Al-Kharj General Hospital (accommodating 300 beds, Al-Kharj), Maternity and Children Hospital (accommodating 200 beds, Al-Rass), Southern Jazan Hospital (accommodating 300 beds, Jazan), Al-Hawiyah Hospital (accommodating 200 beds, Makkah), Abha General Hospital (accommodating 300 beds, Abha), as well as Al-Bashaer General Hospital (accommodating 50 beds, Assir) and Afif General Hospital (accommodating 200 beds, Riyadh).
 
Besides, Dr. Merghalani added, a number of 15 comprehensive clinics have been approved to be established in Riyadh, in addition to the establishment of an oncology center in Madinah, and a forensic center in Jazan. He went on to say that a number of 262 hospitals and health centers, throughout the Kingdom's regions, have been supplied with standby electric generators, aside from the development and renovation of intensive care and emergency units.
 
According to Dr. Merghalani, among the health projects approved to be established in Makkah Region, is the establishment of 16 health facilities, including the furnishing Umm Al-Doom Hospital, the furnishing and equipment of a medical tower at King Faisal Hospital, and the furnishing and equipment of a medical tower at King Abdulaziz Hospital, as well as the establishment of a center for radiation therapy and nuclear medicine in Jeddah. They also cover the furnishing and equipment of Arafat General Hospital, as well as the furnishing and equipment the Kidney Center at King Abdulaziz Hospital, and the Oncology Center in Jeddah, in addition to the establishment of the Specialized Dental Center in Jeddah, and the establishment of workers' residence at King Faisal Hospital, in Taif, aside from the furnishing and equipment of King Faisal Specialized Hospital, in Taif, and the establishment, furnishing and equipment of worker's residence at the Maternity and Children Medical Tower in Taif. The approved projects also include the furnishing and equipment of East Jeddah Hospital and the establishment of Al-Hawiyah Hospital (with a bed capacity of 200 beds).
 
Meanwhile, a number of 6 projects have been approved to be established in the Eastern Province, including the furnishing and equipment of Al-Ahsa Center for Combatting Hereditary Blood Diseases and the establishment of the Specialized Dental Center in Hafar Al-Batin, and the Specialized Dental Center in Dammam, in addition to the establishment of workers' residence at the Psychiatric Hospital in Dammam, and the furnishing and equipment the Psychiatric Hospital in Dammam, in addition to the establishment of Al-Ahsa Hospital (with a bed capacity of 500 beds).
 
Dr. Merghalani continued to say that 7 projects have been approved to be established in Madinah, including the establishment of worker's residence at the Psychiatric Hospital, in Madinah, as well as the furnishing and equipment of the Psychiatric Hospital, in Madinah. They also cover the establishment of workers' residence at Khaibar Hospital, as well as the furnishing and equipment of Khaibar Hospital, in addition to the establishment of workers' residence at Madianh Specialized Hospital, and furnishing and equipping the hospital.
 
Within the same context, Dr. Merghalani pointed out that the MOH has approved the establishment of workers' residence at the Psychiatric Hospital, in Buraidah, as well as the furnishing and equipment of the hospital. Among the projects approved, also, is the establishment of workers' residence at Al-Qawarah Hospital, as well as the furnishing and equipment of the hospital. These projects cover, besides, the establishment of workers' residence at the Psychiatric Hospital in Jazan, as well as the furnishing and equipment of the hospital. Likewise, it has been approved to establish workers' residence at Omloj Hospital in Tabouk, as well as the furnishing and equipment of the hospital. Among the projects approved to be carried out, also, is the establishment of workers' residence at Duba Hospital, as well as the furnishing and equipment of the Hospital, in addition to the establishment of workers' residence at King Fahad Hospital in Al-Baha, and another workers' residence at Hail General Hospital.
 
Dr. Merghalani further explained that a number of general contracts have been also approved, including the contract of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Arabic Health Encyclopedia, as well as the documentation and unification of the clinical work procedures. The approved contracts also cover the Electronic System for Protecting Infants, and the Health Integration Electronic Channel, as well as supplying the MOH hospitals with computers, printers, scanners and servers. They also cover the equipment and operation of the Medical Information Capacity Development Center, the MOH Portal (2nd phase), Change and Awareness Program, Information Security and Protection Program, in addition to the provision of dialysis services (1st phase), and the establishment of warehouses inside health facilities at all the health affairs directorates throughout the Kingdom's regions and provinces.
 
Concluding his statement, Dr. Merghalani stated that health services, just as all the necessary and indispensable services, receive generous patronage and thorough attention from the Kingdom's Governors, May Allah protect them. Moreover, health services have long been considered a top priority for the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, considering the ongoing expansion and unremitting development of all health infrastructure throughout our beloved Kingdom.
 
He also affirmed that the health sector has witnessed tremendous progress thanks to the successive developmental plans and the colossal and relentless efforts exerted by the Government in supporting such an important and vigorous sector. He went on to say that the Ministry of Health takes over a crucial role in the health development, proceeding form its responsibility in the development and enforcement of the health policy. Through its health strategy, the Ministry has placed special emphasis on covering all citizens with health services (preventive, curative and rehabilitative), in a way that allows them to make good use of the services provided.
 
Merghalani stressed that the Ministry of Health is undergoing a comprehensive quantum leap, covering all its services and facilities, which are entirely harnessed to serving patients, preserving their safety, and gaining their satisfaction. In this spirit, it has carried a number of programs aiming at serving patients and putting the slogan (Patient First!) into action.
