Proposal for Establishing a Patient Safety Training Center

His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Rabeeah, recently announced that the Ministry is studying a proposal for establishing a Patient Safety Training Center.  This proposal is currently being discussed with the World Alliance for Patient Safety and will be presented to MOH officials for approval.

HE made this announcement at a press release following his meeting with the Chair of the World Alliance for Patient Safety and Chief Medical Officer for England, Sir Liam Donaldson.  The meeting was held in HE’s office at the Ministry and was also attended by a number of Ministry deputies and officials. The aim of his visit was to discuss the means to furthering cooperation in various fields of patient safety at the national, Gulf, regional and global levels.  

Dr. Al Rabeeah said the institute will introduce the concept of patient safety to health practitioners and raise awareness in all of the Kingdom’s health sectors.  The Ministry of Heal this keen to benefit from the experiences of Sir Liam Donaldson at the WHO and in England.  The MOH plans to study various means for enhancing patient safety programs in the Ministry of Health and other health facilities.  MOH will also establish awareness programs for all health practitioners; these programs will be provided by Sir Liam Donaldson during the coming weeks.
