Press Release Regarding Dust Storm
26 March 2011
Ministry of Health issued a statement last night stated that all Ministry's 24 hour health facilities and hospitals are ready to receive emergency cases in  areas affected by the dust storm, especially Middle and Eastern Regions. Such hospitals took all needed precautions to help the increasing number of patients with respiratory diseases.

The Ministry advised people with pre-existing breathing-related problems, such as asthma, to stay indoors and wear protection medical masks when leaving their homes, since dust particles irritate the respiratory system causing nasal allergies.
The Minister of Health directed all health affairs directorates to take all needed actions for citizens and residents' health and safety.

General Directorate of Information and Health Awareness issued a list of Health Precautions as followed:
• Avoid direct exposure to dust storms and avoid outdoor activities as much as possible. Follow up weather forecasts through TV, radio or
Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PMW) website.
• Keep windows and doors closed. Give more attention to personal hygiene and buildinghouse cleaning during this time of year, especially bedrooms, sheets and mattresses.
• Wear medical protection mask or damp cloth to reduce exposure to dust particles. Exchange them continuously.
• People with respiratory conditions, or those who have had surgery recently in the eye or nose, must stay indoors as much as possible, follow doctors directions and use the prescript medication to avoid the impact of dust storms on their health.
• Visit the nearest health center or ER when needed.
• Drivers should follow the General Directorate of Traffic safety instructions while driving. Visibility deteriorates very quickly during a dust storm. Therefore, drivers and companions must fasten seat belts, close widows and switch on A.C on a proper temperature if needed.
