Dr. Khusheim: Hospitals Directors Renewal Based on Their Performance

The Ministry of Health Planning and Development Deputy, Dr. Mohammad Bin Hamza Khusheim confirmed that the renewal of hospitals directors will be based on their performance according to standards that includes the productivity of the hospital, doctor, service and others.
 
During the opening of the activities of the quarter periodically meeting of Bed Management Program supervisors in the kingdom, Dr. Khusheim stated that the program is one of several programs launched by the Ministry in the framework of its comprehensive strategy. The program aims to apply global rates regarding hospitalization period, bed turnover and occupancy rate and the ratio of one day surgery to routine surgery.
 
Dr. Khusheim indicated that some hospitals have witnessed a productivity increase of 15% in operation rooms after applying of a number of standards to ensure the optimal use of resources.
 
Bed Management Program General Supervisor, Dr. Yasser bin Saeed AL Ghamdi confirmed that the number of one day surgeries has reached 27900 surgeries, that is up to the end of Shawwal 1431.
 
Dr. AL Ghamdi added that 37 hospitals were electronically linked to the program as a first step; in order to link all MOH hospitals with a capacity of 100 beds and more in the next phase. This will allow access to get occupancy rates for all hospitals and intensive care units, bed turnover rates and hospitalization, enabling officials to view the types and numbers of one day surgeries in the programs hospitals.
 
Moreover, Dr. Al-Ghamdi clarified that the program works on providing a bed for patients in both routine and emergency cases, utilizing available resources, as well as coordinating the admission and transformation of clinical cases, evaluating the program's outcomes and the need of more beds. In addition, new hospital departments, with the capacity of 100 beds and more, were added such as inpatients medical care administration, patients discharge department as well as administrations of one day surgery and one day treatment.
