Unified purchasing a successful integration factor, Al-Husain

The MOH Director General of Medical Supply and member of the executive commission of the GCC Council of Health Ministers Dr. Khalid Abdul Rahman Al-Husain said the unified policy for purchasing GCC products of medicines and medical equipment is one of the most successful integration factors that offered a number of privileges to the GCC member states.
 
In a press statement on the occasion of the 64th conference of the GCC Council of Health Ministers, which will be held in Riyadh on Feb 5th and 6th, 2008, he said the unified purchasing policy has proved efficiency in securing the requirements of the GCC states. "The smoothness of procedures and quick response to demands have assisted relative bodies in the different states to fix supply and handover appointments in accordance with the needs of the different states", he said.
 
He said the unified policy has yielded other benefits regarding the quality and expiry of supplied products, in addition to maintaining efficient monitory on them, notifying that the policy which started with an annual rate of only 3 bids in 1976, executed 12 bids in 2007.
