Program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Health

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aiziz has approved the request of MOH regarding establishment of a program under the title: "Program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz for Health Scholarships", whereby 1000 physicians and technicians (Including specialists in the fields of nursing, x-ray, medical labs, medical technology, pharmacy, and health sciences) shall be sent for higher studies and training, said the Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane.
 
He said the guidelines include elevation of the funds allotted to scholarship and training within the MOH budget for the coming four years in a way as to cover the costs of the program. "Priority in sending for scholarships or training must be given to advanced countries", he said.
 
He said the request of MOH for the establishing the program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz for Health Scholarships comes in line with the concerns devoted to manpower, which represents the core for improving health services. "We are in need of sending more physicians for offering them the opportunity of acquiring more experience, especially in rare specialties", he said.
 
On this occasion, Dr. Al-Mane raised his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and to the Hear to the Throne Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz for their unlimited and continuous support to the programs of the Ministry of Health.
 
It is worth mentioning that a total number of MOH employees sent for scholarships in the different fields of medical and non medical specializations till 29/06/1428H is 510 (444 male and 66 female) employees from 19 provinces and districts. The figure includes 118 scholarships for medical specializations, 65 for PhD, and 161 for MSc studies. In addition, 1058 male and female physicians from the different provinces of the Kingdom have been sent for internal scholarships till 30/12/1427.
