Health Survey is a crucial step towards balanced health services
08 May 2007
MOH Undersecretary for Health Affairs Dr. Mansour Al-Hawasi described the International Health Survey to be carried out by MOH in all parts of the Kingdom as a crucial step for providing health services on the basis of verified information about the health situation.

He said the survey which has been approved by the World Health Organization aims at finding ways for providing information, making comparisons, setting strategies, establishing databases, setting practical indicators, monitoring the extent of realizing set goals, and equipping decision makers with the necessary indications and proofs required for formulating future policies and programs. It also aims at finding a formula for providing dependable health information for use in evaluating health performances of different countries. It will also help in establishing a formula for measuring the extent to which the health system is successful in attaining required goals.

Dr. Al-Hawasi expected the survey to be useful in improving information systems and health indicators through yielding effective statistical tools for evaluating national health systems. It will also set an example for establishing permanent units for carrying out health surveys and creating national experience in performing health surveys.

It is worth mentioning that the Kingdom is one of the first countries in the Gulf as well as in the Middle East to execute such a survey.
