Riyadh Medical Complex commemorates the International Day of Asthma
02 May 2007
Dr. Imadiya M. Alaqi, the allergy and immunity specialist at Riyadh Medical Complex said more than 600 million persons are affected by asthma around the world.

"Sprayers have no addicting effects on asthma patients", she said, "They are approved by local and international medical authorities to be the best way of treating asthma. This is in part because its effect goes directly to the lung, thus minimizing required doses and side effects".

She said people suffer from asthma in all parts of the world, but climatic changes may worsen the case for many patients.

According to Alaqi, asthma patients can perform physical exercises as long as they haven't taken alveolar dilators before starting the exercises, but she said certain exercises such as swimming are preferable.

She said asthma attacks may occur at any time, but in certain cases the symptoms may persist even though tranquilizers were used. She advised such patients to consult the nearest doctor or hospital.

It is worth mentioning here that Riyadh Medical Complex shall organize on Thursday 16/04/1428H a commemorative program for the International Day of Asthma. The program includes lectures, demonstrations, and discussions on the latest developments in asthma treatment.

Invitation is open for all families having patient children to attend the program which includes competitions and distribution of gifts.
