Health Education Symposium to start soon

The Health Awareness Information Center shall host during the period from 23 to 25/01/1428H, 11-13/02/2007, at Al-Mansour Hotel in Riyadh, a symposium on the basics and concepts of Health Awareness under the title: "Awareness Ambitions and Training Area". 
 
The Health Awareness Manager Mr. Hamad Al-Khuwaylid said the symposium shall discuss the basics and concepts of health awareness. Invitation to the symposium has been extended to a number of highly specialized scholars from King Saud University and Alexandria University. Certain categories shall be targeted by the symposium, especially women nurses, women employees having interest in health education, and those whose work is linked to health education.
 
He said the symposium is an indication for the attention paid by the Ministry of Health to health education. Such attention is reflected in MOH efforts to create qualified Saudi staff experienced in health awareness planning and execution as well as in communicating with the different categories of the society. It is the intention of the Ministry of Health through such efforts to build healthy behavior patterns and encourage avoidance of harmful habits.
 
A number of scholars shall provide lectures and organize workshops during the symposium period of 3 days.
 
In the first day, Dr. Mona Al-Sayed Shama, the associate professor at the High Institute of Public Health, University of Alexandria, offered a lecture titled: "Health Education and Health Boosting". Dr. Mufeeda Mahmoud, a professor at the same institute, offered another lecture entitled: "Elements and Skills of Efficient Communication". A third lecture entitled: "Group Education and Dialogue Management" was offered by Dr. Insaf Saeed Abdel Jawad, an associate professor in health education and behavior sciences at King Saud University. Lastly, Sultana Al-Hiraishi from King Saud University offered a demonstration on "Individual Advice".
 
The Deputy Supervisor of the Health Awareness Information Center, pharmacist Al-Bandari Saad Al-Bishi, said the Ministry of Health has accomplished its regulatory preparations very early for ensuring successful execution of this campaign. She expressed her hope that the symposium shall succeed in yielding health educators capable of working in this field.
