New designs bring better services
11 November 2007
The Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Al-Mane has approved on Wednesday 07/11/2007 the new designs of 2000 primary health care centers in the different parts of the Kingdom. The approved health care centers will be renamed "family medicine centers" in order to cope with the new situation of including family doctors within their staff of health services.

Dr. Al-Mane called upon all families to contact the centers, denoting that they include all family health services such as maternity and childhood care, chronic diseases, incurable diseases, labs and x-ray, vaccines, dentistry services, social services, ambulance services, etc.

"Families will find full and comprehensive services in these centers", he said "Many small cities and villages lack dentistry services and the family medicine centers are hoped to cover the gap".

He said the new changes will assist the centers in providing the best services as they are tailored in accordance with required needs. They will hopefully represent a move for quality in the performance of the centers. In addition to the buildings, the changes include manpower, equipment, recruiting family doctors, etc.

Dr. Al-Mane extended his appreciations to the MOH Undersecretary for Planning and Development, his colleagues, and all who have contributed in the works of the new designs, which are classified to grades A, B, and C in accordance with highly valued international standards, required needs, and population.
