About the symposium:
The King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) in collaboration with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, represented by the Health Awareness Division, will organize the 6th annual symposium for health awareness titled "Health Awareness and Consumer Protection…Where is the Path?" This came as part of the continuing education program adopted by the hospital with the aim of raising the employees' efficiency at the scientific and professional level in order to activate their role in this field and for achieving quality in the field of health services.

Consolidating the concept of consumer's awareness about health issues and highlighting the importance of health awareness for consumer protection.

Main axes:
  1. The first axis: Consumer movement and globalization (An introductory definition of the consumer in all sectors and revision of the consumer's international rights).
  2. The second axis: The consumer awareness concept (The bases and principles of the concept and ways to integrate it into health issues).
  3. The third axis: Awareness of the rights of the consumer in the sectors, including the following: 
    • Health facilities (Visitors' rights)
    • Media organizations (The receiver's rights in the audio-visual organizations with regard to programs, ads and movies)
    • Nutrition and food safety (Food industry: Fast food, canned food, restaurants, storage, packaging and street vendors).
    • Drug safety: (Rationalizing consumption of over-the-counter drugs, cosmetics, traditional prescriptions and control.
  4. The fourth axis: Local and international social initiatives to protect the consumer and the role of international organizations in this respect.
