His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Rabeeah, opened on Sunday, 2nd of Safar, the 3rd International Conference of Advance Child Health Care, organized by the Children's Hospital, an offshoot of King Fahad Medical City, in collaboration with the Saudi Society of Pediatrics. The conference will be held at the Grand Celebrations Hall with the participation of a group of local and international specialists and lecturers.
The four-day conference includes eight main scientific sessions and four specialized workshops, which will tackle 35 working papers in the pediatric affairs. The event aims at allowing participants to exchange scientific experiences and the concerned bodies to communicate; that is to be added to directing research studies in the field of pediatrics.

Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Salhi, Consultant in Child Growth and Behavior at King Fahad Medical City and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the conference is the third consecutive one to be organized by the Children’s Hospital at King Fahad Medical City as it takes place every two years. He added that the event is considered one of the largest and most famous medical conferences in the region, noting that more than one thousand persons from inside and outside the Kingdom will participate in the conference.

Within the same vein, Dr. Al-Salhi explained that the conference, which will be held this year under the theme “We need them to grow up while smiling”, will tackle the latest medical developments in the pediatric field, covering several specialties, including cardiology, the digestive and respiratory systems, premature infants and cancer. “The conference will be attended by international figures from Canada, America and Europe,” he said, adding that 20 working hours were accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) for the conference.

He reiterated that the 35 scientific papers, which were submitted to the conference from local and international participants, tackle various topics in the field of pediatrics, including a paper by the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Rabeeah, on the separation of conjoined twins in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In addition, five workshops on children affairs and another one for families of patients with autism will be held on Thursday, 5th of Safar, at the medical city.
