MOH Warns Those Returning from Brazil and Other Zika-Affected Countries
The Ministry of Health (MOH) would like to remind the citizens and residents, returning from Brazil or any other Zika-affected countries (listed within these countries), to follow these preventive measures against the importation of the virus into the Kingdom:
  • In case of the onset of any of the following symptoms within two weeks of your arrival, you must see a doctor and notify him with your departure date. The symptoms include:
    • Fever
    • Skin rashes
    • Muscle and joint pain
    • Eye Redness
  • You must follow, for at least three weeks, the procedures necessary to prevent mosquito bites, regardless of the onset (or not) of symptoms. These procedures are as follows:
    • Using mosquito repellent creams or sprays, which are available in pharmacies.
    • Avoiding sleeping in open areas.
    • Removing mosquito breeding sites in and around your home such as that water in flower pots and small pools of water.  
  • Upon their returning from the aforementioned countries, men must use condom during sexual intercourse, for a period of eight weeks upon returning. In case of the onset of any symptoms, you must consult a doctor about increasing such period.
  • You must refrain from donating blood or its products for four weeks after returning home, regardless of the onset (or not ) of symptoms.
