World Cancer Day

Overview:
Cancer is one of the most widespread diseases globally. On February 4th each year, the world unites to fight cancer and save millions of lives. More than one-third of cancers can be prevented through increased health awareness across countries worldwide.

Facts:
  • The most common cancers include breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancer.
  • 30–50% of cancer cases can be prevented by reducing risk factors.
  • Nearly one-third of cancer deaths are attributed to:
    • Smoking
    • Obesity and high body mass index
    • Alcohol consumption
    • Low intake of fruits and vegetables
    • Physical inactivity
    • Air pollution, a major risk factor for lung cancer
  • Early diagnosis significantly increases treatment success and recovery rates while reducing disease burden.
Objectives:
  • Raising community awareness about cancer and prevention methods.
  • Encouraging early detection and increasing awareness of its importance to ensure better treatment outcomes.
