Overview:
Cancer is one of the most widespread diseases globally. On February 4th each year, the world unites to fight cancer and save millions of lives. More than one-third of cancers can be prevented through increased health awareness across countries worldwide.
Facts:
- The most common cancers include breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancer.
- 30–50% of cancer cases can be prevented by reducing risk factors.
- Nearly one-third of cancer deaths are attributed to:
- Smoking
- Obesity and high body mass index
- Alcohol consumption
- Low intake of fruits and vegetables
- Physical inactivity
- Air pollution, a major risk factor for lung cancer
- Early diagnosis significantly increases treatment success and recovery rates while reducing disease burden.
Objectives:
- Raising community awareness about cancer and prevention methods.
- Encouraging early detection and increasing awareness of its importance to ensure better treatment outcomes.
