June 8th of each year is World Brain Tumor Day, to raise awareness of the disease, its causes, and its symptoms, in addition to understanding the methods of diagnosing the disease and its treatment methods.
Facts:
- Brain and spinal cord tumors can affect people of all ages, but they are more common in older people.
- Some brain tumors mainly affect adults, and some occur more often in children.
- Certain genetic conditions increase the risk of developing a brain tumor, including tuberous sclerosis, neurofibromatosis type 1, neurofibromatosis type 2, and Turner syndrome.
- People who have been exposed to a strong type of radiation are more likely to develop brain tumors.
