Every year, on March 30, the world celebrates World Bipolar Day. Bipolar disorder is defined as a mood disorder that causes radical shifts in mood, energy, and ability to perform daily tasks. People with the disorder experience so-called “mood episodes,” which are intense emotions and changes in behavior that can last from days to weeks.
Objectives:
- Eliminating social stigma towards bipolar disorder.
- Raising the world’s awareness and educating it about bipolar disorders.
Facts:
- An estimated 46 million people worldwide have bipolar disorder.
- Many people with bipolar disorder are misdiagnosed or untreated, and face discrimination and stigma.
- Bipolar disorder can be a lifelong mental health problem, primarily affecting mood.
