World Food Day
The Food and Agriculture Organization “FAO” of the United Nations celebrates World Food Day each year on 16 October, the day on which the Organization was founded in 1945. The Rome-based Organization spread in more than 100 countries around the world.
 
The events of the World Food Day, which is organized in more than 150 countries worldwide, aim at deepening the issue of hunger and the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. The theme of the World Food Day 2016 is "Climate is changing, food and agriculture must too).
 
The FAO helps developing countries to fight hunger and to ensure that every individual gets sufficient amount of nutritious diets in order to live an active and healthy life. It focuses on rural areas, which are home to 80% of the world's poor and hungry people. 
 
Objectives of World Food Day:
  • Eradication of hunger and poverty.
  • Ensuring food security and nutritious diets for all.
  • Helping countries to improve management of their natural resources.
