World Osteoporosis Day
   Osteoporosis is usually dubbed: the ‘silent disease’, as it affects millions of people around over the world. The World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) is centered upon a crucial issue, manifested in this year's theme: “Love Your Bones”. It calls for take three basic steps towards the prevention of osteoporosis: a) regular, weight-bearing exercise, b) ensuring an adequate calcium intake, and c) ensuring getting balanced and integrated nutrition. Therefore, education about the prevention of a disease which the general public is still largely unaware about becomes crucial, taking into account that the efforts exerted throughout the past few years have begotten increasingly positive results.

Objectives and Mission of the World Osteoporosis Day:

  • Prevention of osteoporosis by focusing attention on these three elements:
  • Daily muscle strengthening exercise regime.
  • Ensuring sufficient vitamin D intake.
  • Ensuring getting balanced and integrated nutrition..
  • Early diagnosis; to ensure early diagnosis are the cornerstones of prevention of spinal fractures.
  • Raising public awareness of the dangers of osteoporosis.
  • Drawing attention to the importance of preventive measure for osteoporosis
  • A healthy lifestyle is critical to keep your bones strong.
  • Urging decision makers to focus on reducing the incidence of osteoporosis.
