The Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development, Eng. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Rumaih, welcomed today the Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Dr. Hanan Balkhy, during her official visit to the Kingdom from 13 to 14 January. The meeting reflects the depth of the strategic partnership between MoH and the World Health Organization, and underscores the continuation of high-level dialogue on shared regional and global health priorities.
Discussions focused on advancing the outcomes of the 2024 strategic dialogue between the Kingdom and the Organization, while exploring broader avenues of collaboration across key health domains. These include strengthening regional and international health priorities and building resilient, sustainable health systems founded on impactful global partnerships, efforts that directly enhance the quality of healthcare services delivered to beneficiaries. This aligns with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a “Vibrant Society” and foster a “Thriving Economy.”
The meeting further supports MoH’s strategic goals of expanding health investment opportunities and reinforcing the Kingdom’s active role on the global health stage. It highlights Saudi Arabia’s standing as a trusted international health partner and its leadership in shaping global health policies, localizing pharmaceutical industries, and advancing technology transfer, strengthening the readiness and long-term sustainability of the national health system.
