The Minister of Health, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel has wrapped up an official visit to New Zealand, where he met with senior officials and health leaders to explore new avenues of collaboration.
The visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties in healthcare, with discussions covering digital mental health programs that have benefited millions in Saudi Arabia, and opportunities to integrate these experiences with New Zealand’s telemedicine system. AlJalajel also met with Matt Doocey, New Zealand’s first-ever Minister for Mental Health, while the Saudi delegation held talks with leaders from the country’s Public Health Agency.
Talks highlighted prospects for cooperation in developing patient-centered healthcare models powered by modern technology, alongside exploring ways to integrate evidence-based traditional practices into contemporary care systems. The two sides also discussed healthcare workforce development and improving system efficiency through knowledge and expertise exchange.
AlJalajel’s visit reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader push to expand its global health partnerships in line with Vision 2030, aiming to enhance public health outcomes both regionally and internationally.
Earlier this week, the Minister concluded a similar visit to Australia, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s growing role in fostering healthcare collaboration between the Middle East and Oceania, with agreements to share expertise and drive innovation to advance healthcare outcomes.
