In a move that underscores the strong ties between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, Minister of Health, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel welcomed his Iraqi counterpart, Dr. Saleh AlHasnawi, during an official visit to the Kingdom on Tuesday. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Riyadh, was attended by Iraqi Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Safia Taleb AlSuhail, and focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in a range of health-related fields.
Key areas of discussion included public health, preventive medicine, digital health, virtual care, and clinical services. Both sides also explored investment opportunities in the healthcare sector and ways to strengthen the resilience of health systems in responding to epidemics through proactive preventive measures.
The visit also featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding collaboration and developing sustainable healthcare partnerships that meet the aspirations of both nations.
As part of the visit, the Iraqi delegation toured several major Saudi health institutions, including King Fahad Medical City, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Seha Virtual Hospital, the Command and Control Center, and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority. The guests were introduced to the Kingdom’s leading experiences in healthcare transformation and the use of advanced technologies in service delivery.
