MOH Enhances Holy Sites Hospitals with Saudi Pharmacists

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has enhanced the holy sites hospitals with Saudi pharmaceutical cadres specialized in intensive care, emergency medicine, and infectious diseases, as part of its efforts to provide the best health services to the pilgrims.​

It has provided prescription label printers connected to Careware system in use at the holy sites hospitals to make required amendments including a list of Hajj drugs, labelling drug allergy before dispensing, mechanism of dispensing drugs, restricted drugs and pharmacist’s intervention. In addition, MOH has implemented a virtual training course for pharmacists working in the holy sites hospitals, entitled (Critical Care Treatments for the Pharmacist Staff Participating in Hajj).

The pharmaceutical care committee has intensified its inspection visits to the holy sites hospitals to ensure workforce readiness, availability of medicines and pharmaceutical equipment, application of drug safety standards, as well as working with the General Administration of Medical Supply and the Command and Control Center on how to handle drug shortage before the Hajj season begins.
